Does Umak play music on its own?
Umak controls the Apple Music or Spotify app on your Mac. Keep using your usual player and subscription; you don’t need to sign in again inside Umak.
Will it work on my Mac?
You need macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The download works on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, with built-in or external displays. A notch is optional.
Why does macOS ask for permission?
Umak needs Automation permission to control Music or Spotify. Choose Allow when macOS asks. You can change this in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
Is it free?
Yes. Umak is free and open source. You can find the source code, report a problem, or contribute on GitHub.
How do I update or remove it?
Umak checks for new releases and offers a link in its menu. You choose when to download and replace the app. To remove it, quit Umak from the menu bar and delete it from Applications.
